So I am new to this Navy Wife thing. My husband left on Feb, 29. 2012. One thing nobody prepared me for was the lack of communication we would have while he was in boot camp. Literally, expect 3 phone calls while your loved one is in Hell, er boot camp. My husband called me on March 1 to let me know he arrived to Illinois safely. The call lasted all of 3 seconds. The next phone call was about 5 weeks later. The 3rd was two days before he got out. Its kind of sweet in a pathetic way. Writing old fashioned love letters the way my grandparents did during WWII and my parents did in Vietnam.
My husband didn't even know I was going to his boot camp graduation until that last phone call. The mail in boot camp is slower than molasses. So, did i mention the last time I saw my husband was the Friday of his graduation? That was all of five hours. Don't worry, once they get to 'A' school the lines of communication really opens up.
I still haven't seen my hubs since that May afternoon. It is really because I can't afford to. Otherwise, I would have been there already.
Thankfully, he is almost done with school and we will be moving to Jacksonville, FL soon. Probably by the end of July. That much I know already. When we are moving, well that's another story. Hurry up and wait, my Dad's favorite catch phrase. He was an officer in the Navy. Now i get it, funny how that works.
I want to start a blog so i can network better with other military people. Hopefully it will work. There are many hurdles to jump over being the spouse of a military person.
So keeping a diary that anybody could read seemed logical. lol
So here goes nothing. Anchors Aweigh...
